winter trees stand still
skeletons on a white sky
it rains all weekend

sudden red on gray
an invasion of cardinals
splashing in the rain

last night police cars
in front of my neighbor's house
have you seen this man?

five days off are good
in the dustbowl galaxy
i capture three stars

the house waits cleanly
suspended animation
guests arriving soon
